A Letter to Our Grantees About COVID-19

With the rapid spread of COVID-19, we are reminded of the need to take care of our grantee partners, ourselves, our communities, and the broader public.

To that end, I wanted to let you know:

  • We recognize this developing situation may affect your ability to go on business trips and hold convenings you have planned as part of our funding. We want to offer you flexibility during this time. If your grant deliverables will be significantly delayed due to the coronavirus or you think we can be a useful partner as you navigate and respond to the pandemic, please contact your program officer to discuss how to best proceed.
  • Consistent with Mayor Bill de Blasio’s latest guidance to prevent a COVID-19 outbreak in New York City, Surdna staff will work from home for the next few weeks. During this time, we will hold convenings virtually, postpone, or cancel them accordingly.
  • We have plans in place to ensure our ability to pay grantees with minimal disruption.

Should you have any pressing questions or concerns regarding your grant, please don’t hesitate to email your program officer.

It is times like this that reinforce your vital work to advance social justice and racial equity across the U.S. Thank you for all that you do. We stand with you every step of the way.

Take good care,

Don Chen
