Jasmin Castillo (she/her) serves as vice president, operations at the Surdna Foundation, where she leads the people, systems, and operational infrastructure that support the foundation’s work to foster just and sustainable communities. A member of the leadership team, she works closely with the president and Surdna board to strengthen governance, advance institutional priorities, and ensure organizational alignment.

Jasmin oversees human resources, organizational culture, office operations, information technology, administrative budgeting, and executive operations. She has also co-led organization-wide anti-racism and equity efforts, embedding inclusive practices into systems, policies, and workplace culture.

Jasmin joined Surdna in 2016 as executive assistant to the president, was promoted to head of administration and the Office of the President in 2023, and appointed to her current role in 2026. Throughout her tenure, Jasmin has been a trusted advisor to the president and a collaborative leader across the organization, advancing initiatives that enhance coordination, accountability, and long-term effectiveness.

With more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience, Jasmin brings deep expertise in organizational design, team development, and institutional growth. Prior to joining Surdna, she held leadership roles in development operations and donor relations at the Bob Woodruff Foundation. Previously, she led office and human resources functions at Charity Folks, Inc., serving as Chief of Staff to the CEO and supporting fundraising efforts that generated more than $25 million nationwide. Earlier in her career, she held management positions at several mission-driven organizations.

Jasmin holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Lehman College and a bachelor’s degree in management with a focus on leadership from the University of Phoenix. Committed to building resilient institutions and leading with strategic discipline, operational clarity, and care, Jasmin also volunteers with women-owned small businesses, providing mentorship and support to help them grow. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and cozying up with a good book.
