FY19 – FY24 Grant Trends
Total Grantmaking
from FY19 – FY24
In 2020, millions across the U.S. stepped up in support of Black lives and against systemic anti-Black racism. To meet the moment, Surdna increased its grantmaking for racial justice by $45 million over three years.
The ‘increased spend for racial justice’ funds were allocated in fiscal years FY21, FY22, and FY23. While these funds were designated during these fiscal years, the commitment and actual spending of these funds may have occurred in later years. This aligns with our accounting practice of recording allocations based on the year of the original designation, regardless of when the funds are ultimately committed or spent.
