What if Investments Delivered Returns AND Impact?
We’ve all heard the term “impact investing,” but what does it actually mean?
In 2017, the Surdna Foundation allocated $100 million of its $1.2 billion endowment for impact investing. Since then, we have committed over $200 million in impact investments and already received at least $53.2 million back in liquidity, which has been reinvested in grantmaking and additional impact investments. Our impact portfolio has delivered an 11.1% annualized return since inception, outperforming our endowment over the same period.
So, impact investing can be good for people, the planet, AND the bottom line?
We invest in funds like Blackstar Stability, whose fund managers are buying and restructuring home loans and lowering payments to put homeownership back in the hands of families while delivering responsible returns for investors.
Blackstar was selected as an “industry expert” on the public television series Empowered, hosted by Meg Ryan, which spotlights impactful companies and organizations around the U.S.
