Amachie K. Ackah, a fifth-generation family member, joined the Surdna board in November 2023. He is co-founder, Managing Partner, and Chief Investment Officer of Clay Cove Capital, a real estate private equity firm.
Amachie has over 25 years of real estate industry experience in both investment funds and development companies. He began his career at Goldman Sachs as a Financial Analyst prior to earning his MBA. He then became an Acquisitions and Asset Management Specialist at The Praedium Group LP before joining the Buccini/Pollin Group, Inc. as Director of Acquisitions and Development, and later he became a Principal at Lubert-Adler Real Estate LP. In 2007, Amachie launched Argosy Real Estate Partners (AREP).
Amachie has extensive leadership in hotel acquisitions and development, as well as resort and resort residential investments across North America. He served on the Board of Directors of the Roaring Fork Club and Mayacama Golf Resort, and was the Interim CEO of the Cote Family Destinations for two years, where he currently sits on the Board of Directors.
Amachie is an active leader within industry and as a member of the community. He has served on the Executive Committee, the Hotel Development Council, and as Programming Chair for the Urban Land Institute (ULI) of Philadelphia, and as a Board Member for the Real Estate Executive Council (REEC).
In addition, Amachie is deeply involved with the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), a global professional network of CEOs and he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, St. Paul’s School, and the Episcopal Academy.
Amachie received an MBA with dual majors in finance and real estate from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s from Williams College. At Wharton, he was a Toigo Fellow and distinguished as a Murphy Fellow by the faculty of the Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center. Amachie is an Eagle Scout and lives with his wife and children in Bryn Mawr, PA.
